Pig House Flooring Systems

The floor is where pigs spend all their time. Slatted floors in plastic, cast iron or concrete keep pens dry, and warming mats give piglets a comfortable lying area. Slot width and surface are matched to the pig age.

Selection guide

How to choose

  1. 1

Match the floor to the stage

Young pigs need warmer, finer slots; sows and finishing pigs need stronger floors.

  2. 2

    Check slot and slat widths

Slot width and slat width are limited by guidelines and by pig age.

  3. 3

    Plan the supports

Beams or pit walls must carry the load; the beam is chosen with the floor.

  4. 4

    Think about heating

Metal floors conduct heat; creep areas usually get a warm plastic floor or a mat.

Frequently asked questions

Which floor material should I choose?

Plastic is warm and light and suits piglets; cast iron is strong and often used in crates; concrete is economical for finishing and sow areas. Many farms use a mix by stage.

How wide should the slots be?

Slot width depends on the pig age and weight. We recommend a width for each stage once we know the pig type and the pit.

Can you supply beams as well?

Yes. FRP and concrete beams are part of the building range, and are matched to the span and the floor load.

Can I mix floor types in one house?

Yes. Many farms use plastic in nursery and farrowing rooms, and concrete in finishing houses.

How do I clean slatted floors?

High-pressure washing between batches; the open design lets water and manure fall into the pit.

How long do floors last?

It depends on the material, the load and the cleaning routine. Ask us about the expected life for your case.

Are sizes and configurations fixed?

No. Dimensions, materials and configuration are customised to your herd size, climate and local rules, and agreed with you before quotation.

Are the specifications on your product pages final?

They are typical reference values to help you compare. Final specifications are confirmed with you before quotation.

Who installs the equipment?

Our installation teams install and commission the equipment. The scope for each project is agreed in the contract.

What warranty do you give?

Warranty terms depend on the equipment and are agreed per project in the contract.
