Plan the flows first
Good biosecurity separates clean and dirty, and controls every route onto the farm. The main routes are vehicles, people, pigs, feed, carcasses and equipment. A drawing of these routes comes before the choice of equipment.
Main stations
| Station | Job |
|---|---|
| Vehicle wash centre | Cleans trucks before they come close to the farm |
| Vehicle drying room | Dries vehicles so disinfection can work |
| Personnel disinfection corridor | Controls entry of staff and visitors |
| Loading ramp | Keeps outside vehicles away from the production area |
| Carcass treatment unit | Treats dead pigs on site |
Design principles
- One entry point for people and one for vehicles.
- Loading and unloading at the boundary.
- Clean side and dirty side of the farm kept apart.
- Drainage and wastewater handled at each wash station.
Send us your site plan and local regulations, and we propose a biosecurity layout.
