From the pen to the field
Manure handling should be planned together with the pig house, not after it. Pit depth, floor type and the choice between scrapers and slurry decide how much water the manure contains, and that decides which treatment steps make sense.
The treatment chain
| Step | What it does |
|---|---|
| In-house removal | Scrapers or a slurry pit move manure out of the house |
| Separation | A solid-liquid separator splits slurry into solid and liquid |
| Drying | A manure dryer lowers the moisture of the solids |
| Fermentation | Fermentation tanks turn manure into organic fertilizer |
| Biogas | A biogas project makes energy from the slurry |
What decides the route
- Land for spreading: how much liquid and solid you can use on your own or nearby land.
- Local rules: discharge and storage requirements.
- Water use: scrapers use less water than flushing.
- Your goal: compliance only, fertilizer, or energy.
Send us the herd size and your local rules, and we propose a manure plan.
